Why I made Carkaki

I wanted shopping for a used car in Singapore to be easier: type the car I'm after the way I'd say it, see every listing that fits, and know which one is the better buy. So I built Carkaki.

It started with an old sports car. I wanted one and was trying to justify it. Talking it over with my brother-in-law, I found out that the depreciation figure on sgcarmart isn't the full picture for older cars on a renewed COE. It counts the car as worth nothing when the COE ends, but a car like that can still sell for real money then.

That made me quite happy, because it made an irresponsible decision look a lot less bad. So I tried to work out what the car would really cost me each year, and found out I'm bad at that kind of math. I couldn't work out the costs, and comparing one car with another was even harder.

That's why I built Carkaki. Tell it the car you want in your own words, and it finds the listings on sgcarmart that fit, works out what each one really loses a year, and helps you pick one.
